On my recommendation, Motive gears were ordered from PORC and Motive master kits in addition to a rear Truetrac. This link is on the rear 4 cylinder install....There is a link at the end of this page leading to the front 7.5" IFS install.

Motive is a well known name in racing circles...I give these gears in the Toyota application a thumbs up. Nice quality gears.

Surprise...made in India. These are nice gears in spite of the bad chit chat about some gears coming out of India.

Markings found on the gears to identify them.

Nice quality Motive master install kit...

The 4 cylinder TrueTrac was an exceptional piece of machine work. Part number 913A611.

Information found on the TrueTrac box...

The TT has six grade 8 bolts securing the covers on both sides. Very stout.

One unusual thing that I noticed was that the ring gear just dropped onto the TT with "some looseness". With the tight tolerances of the 10 bolt and ring bolt holes, I'm not sure if this is anything to be concerned about. The painted patterns farther down this link show this is a non-issue.

There was some error in making these measurements with the calipers. The ring gear was loose onto the TT....but the ring gear was also tested on 2 other typical cases I had laying around and it did fit tight onto those indicating the Motive ring gear was in spec in that dimension.

Time now to tear out the old pinion...

Vegetation from Idaho :)

New races (cups) get tapped in with a known soft steel punch.

edit---Best to stay away from all punches/chisels... use an old race to evenly "pat down" the new race. Using a punch could result in "oscillating" pinion preload measurements with the torque wrench. 1-8-2011 ZUK

I will use 082 as the starter shim for the Motive pinion depth...

I started with .060 for the solid collar shim...on the second try with .058" I was right on with a pinion pre-load of 10 in/lb.

The Motive master kit comes with the higher quality 10.9 metric rated bolts. These are tough bolts. 75 foot/pounds and Loctite....

Appears to be a little deep.

Coast confirms that.

After tearing down the 3rd all the way and re-setting with .078 pinion shim, the pattern is much better.

Nice coast. Now it's ok to fine tune the BL to .007" and set the CBPL to the usual 150 ft/lb.

The driveshaft flange had a deep groove.

I opted to install a new double drilled one from Marlincrawler.com

The new seal is installed and the seal has gear oil applied.

New pinion nut with red loctite...
